Seeing as it's a new forum, thought I'd better introduce myself too -
The name’s Bob … Ugly Bob (and a better name for an idiot I’ve yet to hear !)
Good bit older than many of your radios, I was born when Churchill was still Primeminister ( He claimed that Hitler forgot to leave him a note saying the war was over – but Hitler insists he left one with Chamberlain. Chamberlain was keeping quiet. He remembered all the trouble he got into the last time Hitler gave him a note! )
Born : Scraptoft, Leicestershire in November 1950 – and then again a week later.
Brought up to know right from wrong – but then right built an aeroplane and flew off. All I was left with was knowing wrong. Then he left, and never got in touch. (I tried a few times to trace him – I even got the wrong number from 118118 – but it wasn’t the right wrong.)
Went to Eton School (only the once, delivering brussel sprouts) but was educated in Lutterworth. Left school to become a career hippy. The pay was awful, but with all the drugs it did have it’s highs and lows.
Got into CB in the…….( wait a minute)….. late seventies (you see ! still late! ) Those were the good olde Pirate AM days.
Been hooked on CB ever since. Been mad on American Cars since I was knee high to a grasshopper (stole his Corvette and told him to hop it !). Moved to Sunderland when I was 20 (and Sunderland was 856 – There was too much of an age gap, so the affair only lasted 25 years)
I now run a shopping centre in Sunny Market Harborough – well, I say ‘run’, stagger would be a more apt description.
Had numerous radios over the years, and aerials, and SWR meters, and… well you get the picture.
Current favourites are :
Magnum S9
Binatone 5 Star
Stalker 9F DX
Commtron Nato / CXX
Cybernet 3000 ( the Ford Version)
2 x Sommerkamp TS 152’s (one’s not quite enough, and two is one too many)
And a ‘Man Drawer’ full of bits n bobs n rigs n twigs….
But that’s enough of me talking about myself…. It’s your turn…..
What do you think of me ? ;D ;D ;D ;D
